Evaluasi Stabilitas Dinding Penahan Tanah pada Proyek Pembangunan Restoran di Ubud, Bali

Abstract

A slope failure at a restaurant construction project in Ubud, Bali caused the collapse of the existing rubble masonry gravity retaining wall. As an emergency response, the contractor installed a concrete pipe retaining wall without structured technical planning. This study aims to evaluate the failure of the existing retaining wall, assess the stability of the installed concrete pipe wall, and recommend an alternative design that satisfies the required safety criteria. Soil data were obtained from cone penetration tests and empirically correlated to derive geotechnical parameters. Stability analyses were performed manually for overturning, sliding, and bearing capacity safety factors, with global slope stability evaluated using GeoStudio, referencing SNI 8460:2017. Alternative designs were developed using concrete pipes with diameters of 40 cm, 60 cm, and 80 cm filled with cyclopean concrete. Evaluation results show that both the existing retaining walls failed to meet the required stability criteria. All three alternative designs satisfied the minimum safety requirements, and the 80 cm diameter was selected as the optimal design for yielding the highest safety factors at the lowest construction cost.
