    Abstract
    Rice is one of the most important food sources needed by almost the majority of the world's population, even in Indonesia the demand for rice continues to increase every year. Breeding efforts using superior rice germplasm are needed to increase rice production. Every consumer in various countries has different standards to determine the quality of the rice to be consumed, one of the standards that is most considered is aroma. Aromatic rice is considered to be of high quality and is highly sought after by consumers. In previous research, the 17-02-10 line was produced, which is the result of crossing Merah Wangi and Pendok, which has superior characteristics but is still relatively low in productivity, has a deep maturity and a tall plant size so it falls easily.This line can be crossed with the Ciherang variety which has many advantages such as a short maturity period, high yield potential, and lower plant height. This research was conducted to test the BC1F2 rice plant (25), a derivative of BC1F1 rice which is expected to produce new aromatic rice lines with superior properties. Analysis of the presence of the aromatic gene in rice BC1F2 (25) from 20 plant samples analyzed produced 11 plants with heterozygous aromatic mutations (BADH2badh2), 6 plants that were not mutated and 3 plants that had homozygous aromatic mutations (badh2). The phenotypic characteristics of the BC1F2 generation (25) show new traits resulting from the combination of the characteristics of the two parents, such as plant height, total number of tillers and number of productive tillers.
