Uji Repelensi Minyak Atsiri Serai Wangi (Cymbopogon nardus L. Rendle) terhadap Hama Kutu Beras (Sitophilus oryzae L.)
Abstract
Sitophilus oryzae L. is an important pest of rice in storage. Yield losses due to S. oryzae attack can reach 20-100%. Control can be done using insecticides, one of which is vegetable insecticides. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of the use of vegetable insecticides based on citronella essential oil on S. oryzae. The research was conducted at the Laboratory of Integrated OPT Control, Plant Protection Study Program, University of Jember and Taman Gading Housing, Jember Regency, from January to completion. The research was carried out in three stages of activity, namely, the effect of citronella essential oil on (1) the repellency of S. oryzae, (2) the index repellent of essential oil use, (3) and its effect on S. oryzae mortality. The results showed that citronella essential oil could repellent S. oryzae with repellency class IV (60-80%) at a concentration of 24 ml. The results show that essential oil with a concentration of 24 ml has the highest index repellent, namely 93.98%. Essential oils with concentrations of 4 ml, 8 ml, 12 ml, 16 ml, and 24 ml, had an effect on the mortality of S. oryzae with the highest mortality rate of 8,25%.
