Abstract
This study focuses on evaluating the usability of the WhatsApp application for individuals with visual impairments using a quasi-ethnography approach. The evaluation employs the System Usability Scale (SUS) and Semi-Structured Interview methods. The case study is conducted at the Special Education Public School (SLB Negeri) in Branjangan, Jember. Through the combination of quasi-ethnography, SUS, and Semi-Structured Interview methods, the study aims to provide insights into the usability challenges faced by visually impaired users of WhatsApp.
The research obtained a final SUS score of 94.375, reflecting a high level of usability. The identified challenges include changes in layout and issues related to blocked numbers. Participant expectations revolve around enhancing ease of use and introducing more channels for varied information. The combination of SUS and Semi-Structured Interview methods proves to be an effective approach in gaining in-depth information about the experiences of visually impaired users.
