The increasingly uncertain climate factors result in reduced water availability which has
a negative impact on plant growth. Nutrients that can play a role in increasing the ability
of plants when the availability of ground water is low is potassium (KCl), element K is an
essential nutrient involved in maintaining turgor pressure, regulating stomatal openings
and water potential in plant tissues. Plants that have sufficient K elements in drought stress
conditions will show the ability to process stomatal conductance, because the stomata
openings become smaller. This research was conducted to determine the effect of KCl
fertilizer dose and various soil moisture content in oil palm nurseries. This research was
conducted in Sumbersari Village, Sumbersari District, Jember Regency, East Java from
April to September 2021 using a factorial randomized block design. The experiment was
conducted to examine the effect of KCl dose and water content of the media on the growth
of oil palm seedlings, the dose of KCl fertilizer consisted of 4 levels, namely 0 g, 0.4 g, 0.6
g and 0.8 g per plant, the water content of the soil media consisted of of 3 levels, namely
100%, 70% and 50% of field capacity with 3 replications. Based on the results of the study,
it can be concluded that there is no significant effect of the interaction treatment of soil
water content with KCl fertilizer dose on all growth parameters. The water content
treatment of the soil media had a significant effect on the parameters of plant height,
number of leaves, wee diameter and leaf area index. The treatment dose of KCl fertilizer
had no significant effect on all growth parameters.
