Kompetensi Guru Tilawati dalam Pembelajaran Al-Qur’an di TPQ Masjid Darul Hikmah Kabupaten Jember

Abstract

This study examines the competence of Tilawati teachers in Qur'anic learning at TPQ Darul Hikmah Mosque, Jember Regency. The study is motivated by the implementation of Qur'anic learning in heterogeneous classrooms, where students continue to improve their Qur'anic reading skills despite differences in age and reading ability, making teacher competence an important aspect to investigate. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. The research site and informants were selected using purposive techniques. Data were collected through observation, semi structured interviews, and documentation, while data trustworthiness was ensured through prolonged engagement and triangulation. The findings indicate that teacher competence places greater emphasis on the ability to implement the Tilawati method than on possession of the Tilawati Syahadah (certification). Although one teacher had not obtained the Tilawati Syahadah, both teachers were able to conduct learning effectively by applying the rules of tajwid, accurate makharij al huruf, the Rost melody, the baca simak (read and listen) technique, and continuous learning evaluation. However, only teachers who possess the Tilawati Syahadah are authorized to assess students' level advancement.
