Abstract
Talkpod is a talk show (podcast) from NET. Entertainment that airs on
YouTube. Communication between various groups of speakers in talkpods produces
a variety of sociolects that reflect the groups, social classes, and statuses of the
speakers. Based on this, sociolect research is needed to explore language
development in the form of sociolects that exist in society in everyday interactions,
as well as how these varieties reflect broader social dynamics. The focus of this
study is to determine the types of sociolects in talkpods and their use as teaching
modules for learning to write short stories in high school. This research is
descriptive qualitative research using a sociolinguistic approach. The data used
consists of words, phrases, clauses, and sentences containing sociolects spoken by
hosts and guests in talkpod talk shows on four titles in 2024, as well as data on
learning outcomes and learning objectives for writing short stories in the writing
element of grade XI (phase F) of the independent curriculum for senior high school.
The data sources in this study are the utterances in Talkpod 2024 in four episodes
and the “Smart and Agile Indonesian Language and Literature Teacher's
Guidebook for Grade XI Senior High School/Vocational High School” in the
independent curriculum (Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and
Technology). The data collection technique used is documentation with the
observation and note-taking method. The data analysis technique used was Braun
& Clarke's thematic analysis. The results of the Talkpod 2024 interview research
found seven types of sociolects, namely acrolect, basilect, vulgar, slang, colloquial,
jargon, and ken. This research can also be used as a teaching module for the
Merdeka Curriculum for Grade XI Phase F high school students on the subject of
