Abstract
Literary study is a process in the form of studying literary works to achieve an
understanding of the literary work itself. This research aims to find out the author's
social and cultural life that inspired the novel, the author's worldview in the novel They
Bilang Aku Kemlinthi by Hanifa Vidya, as well as the use of research results as
alternative learning materials in schools. Worldview is one aspect of genetic
structuralism which emphasizes anything that influences the author's thoughts and is
realized in the form of literary works. This research uses qualitative methods and a
literary sociology approach with the help of the theory of genetic structuralism by
Lucien Goldmann. Data was collected through the novel, an interview process with the
author and representatives of residents living around the author, as well as their
Indonesian Curriculum syllabus. The results of the research show that the socio-cultural
life of the author that inspired the novel is divided into language aspects, social norm
aspects and tradition aspects. Then the author's world view in this novel shows the ideas
that the author wants to convey regarding the struggle of women who fight stereotypes
in the village environment and social problems in the city environment. Thus, this
research can be used as an alternative Indonesian language learning material, namely
writing critical texts from novel literary works in phase F of class XII high school. It is
hoped that this research can become reference material for future researchers and
teachers regarding research into the author's worldview based on the theory of genetic
structuralism by Lucien Goldmann in literary works in the form of novels
