The process of roasting coffee is to maintain the process of reducing the water content of coffee
beans at temperatures of 200-230˚C, while for the weight of roasted coffee depends on the length of time. In
this study, we will build an automatic coffee roaster machine with 1kg capacity with a roasting time of 30
minutes. From the manufacturing process results in a reduction in water content in coffee beans weighing
200 grams. This study aims to build an automatic coffee roaster machine that works better than a manual
coffee roaster machine, which is found in some coffee beans that become charcoal and requires the machine
operator every 10 minutes to see the color of the coffee beans when roasted. This automatic coffee roaster
machine uses a heater using a LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas) stove, the power of the coffee roaster player
using an electric motor 0.1864kW and 50rpm shaft rotation. Microcomputer control uses Arduino Uno R3,
12-24 volt relay, LM35 temperature sensor, servo motor and 2 swap programmable drive mechanism. This
study includes a case study of manual coffee roaster by building a 1 kg coffee roaster machine, automating
coffee bean inlet based on roasting room temperature, automating roasted rotation, automating the coffee
bean outlet based on roasting time. From the automation that has been made the machine can operate in a
timely manner and is able to produce shrinkage of 0.2 kg of moisture content lost in the roasting process of
coffee.
