dc.description.abstract | Background: Oral cavity is a host for microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi that can
cause infection. The growth of bacteria and fungi can be reduced with antibacterial and antifungal
agents. There are a lot of medicines that have been developed from natural materials to overcome
infectious diseases with minimal side effects. One of the plants that have been studied is Namnam
(Cynometra cauliflora L.). Purpose: The purpose of this article was to review the potential of namnam
leaves as an alternative antibacterial and antifungal ingredient. Result: Namnam leaves contain
several compounds such as tannins, saponins, terpenoids, flavonoids and quinones that have
antibacterial and antifungal effects. Conclusion: Namnam can be used as an alternati ve material to
resolve i nfectious diseases caused by bacteria and fungi. | en_US |
