    Penatalaksanaan Fissured tongue disertai Denture Stomatitis dan Pseudomembranous Candidiasis pada Pasien Usia 67 Tahun (Management of Patient Aged 67 Years Old Suffered Fissured tongue with Denture Stomatitis and Pseudomembranous Candidiasis)

    Abstract
    Background: Fissured tongue is a gap or vertical fissure on the 2/3 of tongue anterior surface. The predisposition factors are aging, malnutrition, systemic disease and local factors e.g. infection and poor oral hygiene. In this study, the patient was an elderly who the body systems presented deterioration and degeneration, particularly immune system. Denture stomatitis and oral candidiasi s are one of predisposing factors. Oral candidiasis is an opportunistic infection in the oral cavity caused by candida albicans. It can cause systemic disease and decreasing immune system progressively. Case: The male aged 67-year-old visit to the Dental Hospital, University of Jember. Intraoral examination indicated multiple vertical fissures on the tongue with a depth of 4-5 mm and painfull. Moreover, there were a yellowish white plaque scrapable and redness on the dorsum of the tongue. Patient claimed painless on the dorsal of tongue in which there was a red lesion on the posterior plane. Based on the examinations, we concluded that the patient experienced fissured tongue accompanied by denturestomatitis and pseudomembranous candidiasis. Management: The patient was treated by symptomatic therapy using oral rinse (Tantum Verde) as anti-inflammatory mouthwash, nystatin oral suspension and supportive therapy by becomzet (Vitamin B complex, A, C, E and Zinc) as stimulants. Conclusion: The diagnosis presented fissured tongue accompanied denture stomatitis and also pseudomembranous candi diasis.
