dc.description.abstract | Background: Plaque accumulation is the main cause of diseases in the oral cavity. The
presence or absence of plaque accumulation can be used as an indicator of the hygiene of oral
cavity. A device that mostly used to detect plaque is disclosing agent. There are many forms of
disclosing agents such as tablet and solution. Disclosing solution contains chemical coloring materi al
called erytotocyn that can be toxic to the body. Therefore, it is needed to replace the coloring agent
with other bioavailable material to prevent the toxicity. Objective: to investigate whether red dragon
meat extract (hylocereus costaricencis) pigment or anthocyanin can be a substi tute for erythrocin in
disclosing agent, and determine the optimal concentration Methods: This study wil l compare the
penetration strength in various concentration: 25%, 50%, and 75% dragon meat extract as well as
disclosing solution on potato beam medium. Result: The 75% extract of red dragon meat was the most
optimal concentration Conclusion: The 75% extract of red dragon meat can be used as substitute for
disclosing solution. | en_US |
