dc.description.abstract | This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of
utilization of soybean meal and palm oil on the the expression of FADS2 enzyme and the alterations of
HUFA. Two weeks old catfish with average weight 0.98 ± 0.05 g were used at the initiation of treatment. The
fish were divided into two groups, namely F1 and F2. F1 group was fed P1 which contained commercial diet (pellet) production of Super Indo Jaya Makmur Feed Mill, Surabaya. F2 group was fed P2 which contained
50% commercial diet, 40% soybean meal and 10% palm oil. The result showed that the expression of FADS2
on muscle of F2 was higher than F1. Increased expression of FADS2 enzyme F2 would be followed by the
increase in HUFA content of F2. Fatty acid composition revealed that F2 had significantly higher percentages
of HUFA (0, 82±0, 03)%. In conclusion, the results indicated that the P2 feed can improve the expression of
FADS2 enzymes in muscle of catfish. Increased expression of FADS2 enzyme in the F2 affect the
upregulation of HUFA. | en_US |
