Background: Periodontal disease is an oral disease with the second highest
prevalence after caries. The further development of periodontal disease can give bad
impact on quality of human’s life. Therefore, preventive action is required to prevent this
disease. Purpose: Determine the periodontal health status and level of periodontal
treatment needs of patient in Dental Hospital University of Jember October-November
2015. Method: This study was an observational descriptive research with cross sectional
survey design. Samples consisted of 132 respondents and were taken by using purposive
sampling technique. Periodontal health status and level of periodontal treatment needs
were evaluated by CPITN. The data were grouped according to gender and age. Results:
The most common periodontal condition was supra or subgingival calculus founded in
52,3% respondents and the highest periodontal treatment needed was oral hygiene
instruction, scaling, and root planning in 55,3% respondents.
