dc.description.abstractTengger tribe, one of ethnic groups in Indonesia, is still maintain its culture carefully. The tribe lives in 4 districts of East Java Province, i.e. Probolinggo, Pasuruan, Lumajang, and Malang districs. Its communities have used various traditional medicine plants to treat many diseases for thousands of years. The traditional remedy of Tengger tribe becomes a local knowledge in the communities and it is inherited for generations. Unfortunately, modern life style and development of conventional medicines cause most of ethnomedicinal knowledge become lost gradually, particularly among young generations. Therefore, a well documented data of medicinal plants use is very useful to maintain the traditional remedy, especially for Tengger communities in Probolinggo and Pasuruan district.en_US
