Discrimination against Roma ethnicity is a violation of Czech Republic to the European
Convention on Human Rights in the Lisbon Treaty. The discrimination may undermine
the integrity of the EU, so that EU should also play a role in eliminating discrimination.
EU uses its authority and legality by giving a warning to Czech Republic that
discrimination has violated the European Convention on Human Rights. In addition, the
EU also recommended that the Czech Republic make up the program Strategy for
Combating Social Exclusion. In the end, Czech Republic made the program based on the
Government Resolution Number 462. The purpose of this study was to determine the
implementation of the Lisbon Treaty in protecting Roma ethnicity in Czech Republic. The
study used a qualitative research method that is used to describe how Czech Republic
discriminates Roma ethnicity in recent years and how the Lisbon Treaty protects Roma
ethnicity. The study concluded that the implementation of the Lisbon Treaty in protecting
ethnic Roma was to use the authority and the legality of the EU to control the behavior
of the state of Czech Republic
