A DESCRIPTIVE STUDY OF THE FIFTH YEAR STUDENTS' VOCABULARY ACHIEVEMENT THROUGH PICTURES AT SDN KEPATIHAN V JEMBER IN THE 2002 I 2003 ACADEMIC YEAR
Abstract
Pictures can be used as media for teaching vocabulary. The problem of
this research was " How is the fifth year students vocabulary achievement through
pictures at SDN Kepatihan V Jember in the 2002 / 2003 academic year." The
general objective of this research was to describe the fifth year students
vocabulary achievement through pictures at SDN Kepatihan V Jember in the 2002
/ 2003 academic year. The research design was descriptive. The respondents were
taken by population method with the number of 30 students of the fifth grade.
Vocabulary test througt pictures was used to obtain the primary data, while,
interview and documentation were used to get the supporting data. The collected
primary data in the fo:m of the students· vocabulary scores were analyzed
quantitatively in the percentag by using descriptive statistics. In generaL .the
finding of the research showed that the students' vocabulary achievement through
pictures was good specifically on the average the students' noun vocabulary
achievement through pictures was excellent.
