USING COOPERATIVE lEARNING TO IMPROVE STUDENTS' SPEAKING SKILL : A ClASSROOM ACTION RESEARCH CONDUCTED TO THE THIRD YEAR STUDENTS OF SLTP NEGERI 01 RANUYOSO, LUMAJANG IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR OF 1199/2000
Abstract
This Classroom Action Research was aimed at improving the students'
speaking skill. This research was carried out at SLTP Negen I Ranuyoso
Lumajang, which took one month from April to May 2000, implemented in two
cycles The data about the classroom atmosphere were obtained from the results
of observation in the form notes by the writer. The data about the students'
improvement of speaking were obtained from the results of the speaking tests
The collected data were analysed by descripti' e qualitative technique. The results
show that there is an Improvement of speaking ability gained by the students at
the end of the action cycle 2. The mean score increased from 60.29 in the first
cycle to 69.85 m the second cycle, \\hich was considered as good categof)
