EFEKTIFITAS PERAWATAN KATETER DENGAN POVIDON IODIN 10% TERHADAP KOLONISASI ESCHERICHIA COLI DALAM URINE WANITA DI RUANG BEDAH WANITA (RBW) RSD dr. SOEBANDI JEMBER
Abstract
Bacteria colonization is the presence of bacteria in the urine caused by the
pathogenic bacteria in the urinary tracts without or with signs and symptoms. The most
common bacteria found in the urinary tract is Escherichia coli that is 80% of the
precipitating factors of bacterial colonization acquired in the hospital due to urinary
catheters usage. Catheter in women more at risk because the urethra is anatomically
close to the anus, vagina and periuretral glands as well as the short periuretral. Catheter
care can prevent infection and maintain the smoothness of the urine flow in the catheter
drainage system. Povidone iodine 10% is an antiseptic that have an important role in the
treatment of germ in catheter used in RSD dr. Soebandi Jember. The research was
conducted in the Women Surgical Ward (RBW) of RSD dr. Soebandi Jember. The
research was pre experimental design with one group pretest-posttest design. The
samples were at amount of 10 people collected with purposive sampling technique.
Analysis of the data used the dependent t test with a significance level of 5 %. Results
showed highly significant differences with p value (0.004) <α = 0.05. Results of data
analysis obtained t value of -3,911 which means Povidone iodine 10% is effective for the
refuse of the Escherichia coli colonization in the Women Surgical Ward (RBW) RSD dr.
Soebandi Jember. The suggestion of this study is how the nurse could give cathether care
by using povidone iodine 10% everyday which is according to standart operational
procedure (SOP) to prevent Escherichia coli colonization.
