    Abstract
A new compound from chalcone derivate has been synthesized from 4methylacetophenone and 3,4-dimetoxybenzaldehide by Claisen-Schmidt condensation with catalyst of NaOH 60%. This compound is 3-(3,4-dimetoxyphenyl)-1-(4methylphenyl)-2-propen-1-one. Structure elucidation based on FTIR and HNMR spectra. The compound is relatively pure and this can be identified by only one spot from TLC and the range of melting point is narrow. Antioxidant activity of compound with DPPH method showed that the value IC is 455,312 ppm it can be infered that the antioxidant activity is low. 50 1
