dc.description.abstractOne of the barriers to the establishment of professionalism of human resources in the organization is the unmatched of the capacity of staff or improperly in distributing the number of staff which didn’t based on the workload. Hospital service is determined by the human factor. As we all know, nurses are amongst the backbone of a hospital, where nursing services form an internal part of hospital healthcare and it often reflects a succesfull service of the hospital. This study aimed at finding out the optimal of staff needed at interna ward on Dr. Soebandi Hospital Jember using WISN method in the year of 2010.. This research characteristic is descriptive with data study quantitative. The data was collecting used work sampling form. Samples were chosen activities every ten minutes which done by staff in 24 hours. Primary data collected by observation of worker activity pattern in six days. Secondary data source collected from medical record and human resources unit in Dr. Soebandi Hospital Jember. Afterward the data was analyzed with Workload Indicator Staffing Need (WISN) calculation method. Based on research result, productive time utilization at Interna Ward On Dr. Soebandi Hospital Jember reaches out for 76,5%. Based on WISN calculation method, the number of personel that needed is 25 people. So with the result that concludes, this time Interna Ward requires one more personel.en_US
