The Effect of Webtoon Applications on Junior High School Students' Reading Comprehension
Abstract
This research is an experimental that aims to find out whether there is any positive significant 
effect of using the Webtoon applications on junior high school students' reading 
comprehension. Two classes were selected as the respondents using the cluster random 
sampling method. In determining the experimental and control groups, the researcher took two 
classes using lottery from the homogeneous population. Webtoon is using here as the reading 
material in teaching reading comprehension to the students of the experimental group. The 
implementation of the treatment uses three – phase technique. Both of groups were given 
different treatments four times before the post test. In data collection, researchers conducted 
reading comprehension test – multiple choice form. Based on the results of the calculation of 
students' post – test scores, it is known that there is a significant mean difference between the 
experimental and the control group which proves that the use of Webtoon in the classroom as 
reading material has a positive effect. So, it can be concluded that Webtoon is the appropriate 
and effective reading material for students in helping them understand procedure text and 
improve their reading comprehension.
