    Abstract
Motorized vehicles in East Java continue to experience a surge in motorcycles, buses, trucks, sedans, and jeeps every year. The increasing number of motorized vehicles can result in high levels of air pollution. Vehicle emissions are the main source of air pollution that can impact the environment, such as plants. All types of polluting gases will first be responded to by the leaves, especially the epidermis, namely the stomata and trichomes. The aim of this research is to determine the differences in the epidemic characteristics of mango (Mangifera indica) and water apple (Syzygium aqueum) leaves in dense and non-congested areas. This research is exploratory and qualitative. The research stage begins with taking leaf samples, then making preparations using the replica method by washing the samples thoroughly and drying them, then smearing the top and bottom surfaces of the leaves using clear nail polish. Next, stick it to the transparent insulation and press it. After that, remove the isolation and stick it on a glass slide. Finally, observing under a microscope. Based on the research results, the stomata of mango leaves have an anomocytic type, and the trichomes of mango leaves have a glandular type of peltate. Water apple leaf stomata have a parasitic type. There are differences in data on the size and density of stomata and trichomes on mango and water apple leaves, which are located in densely populated and non-motorized areas. The results of the comparison of the stomata and trichomes of mango and water apple leaves suggest that mango plants are more recommended to be planted in vehicle-dense areas because they do not experience many changes compared to non-vehicle-dense areas.
