Kembalinya Nahdlatul Ulama ke "Khittah 1926" pada tahun 1984

Abstract

The internal political upheaval within Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) around 1979-1984 goes to “Khittah 1926”, which shifted the organization's trajectory towards a political stance, compelled NU ideologists to act in order to restore the organization's original direction.This research focuses on the turmoil and changes within Nahdlatul Ulama as it sought to return to its foundational principles as outlined in its ideological basis. The temporal scope of this study covers the years 1979-1984. The spatial scope encompasses Indonesia, where Nahdlatul Ulama conducted official agendas, forums, and important meetings among key figures in various locations across the country. This research employs Randall Collins' conflict theory, which posits three principles of stratification conflict within an organization. The research methodology includes heuristics (source collection), critique, interpretation, and historiography (writing). This study reinforces that NU was founded as a socio-religious organization dedicated to upholding the teachings of Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah Islam, rather than as a political party. As a result, NU declared its return to being an organization and prohibited itself from engaging in practical politics.
