Gambaran Pengetahuan dan Sikap Wanita Usia Subur tentang Sadari dalam Upaya Deteksi Dini Kanker Payudara pada Mahasiswa Fakultas Keperawatan Universitas Jember
Abstract
One of the main causes of death for women worldwide is breast cancer. After receiving treatment, about 50% of late-stage breast cancer patients only survive for 18 to 30 months. Women of childbearing age are currently vulnerable to breast cancer due to the influence of lifestyle and limited understanding of BSE. One method of early detection of breast cancer by conducting a self-examination is BSE. Increased knowledge about breast self-examination will influence the attitudes of women of childbearing age and encourage them to carry out breast self-examination directly to determine the condition of their breasts. This study aims to describe the knowledge and attitudes of women of childbearing age regarding BSE in early detection of breast cancer among students at the Faculty of Nursing, University of Jember. The main aim of this research is to determine the knowledge and attitudes of women of childbearing age regarding BSE in early detection of breast cancer. Quantitative research design with univariate and bivariate analysis with a sample size of 75 Jember students. Data were collected using a questionnaire with a 4 point Likert scale (strongly disagree, disagree, agree, and strongly agree). The results of this study indicate that adequate knowledge about the importance of early detection of breast abnormalities will result in a positive response to breast self-examination (BSE). This study revealed that the majority of respondents had negative attitudes towards BSE, indicating the need to focus on improving attitudes among women of childbearing age to encourage early detection of breast cancer through BSE.
