    Abstract
Introduction: thermoplastic nylon is a denture base material that has elastic properties and is used for patients who are allergic to materials such as resin and metal. Patients who wear dentures have to be cleans to prevent plaque accumulation that causes denture stomatitis. Denture cleans can be done by mechanical, chemical methods, or a combination of both. One method for cleaning chemical dentures is in the form of effervescent tablets. An alternative natural ingredient that can be made into effervescent tablets is edamame seed extract which contains antifungal and antibacterial properties such as saponins, flavonoids, tannins and phenols. Therefore, this study aims to examine the effect of immersing thermoplastic nylon in effervescent tablets from edamame seed extract at a concentration of 50% on color changes. Method: This experimental study used a pre-post test control group design. Thermoplastic nylon was manipulated by injection molding method. Edamame seed extract effervescent tablets with a 50% concentration were made using the direct compression method, and compared with immersion in distilled water and commercial effervescent tablets. Results: Group that was immersed in commercial effervescent tablets had the greatest effect in color changing of thermoplastic nylon (ΔE = 1,96) among all groups, followed by those that in effervescent tablets of edamame extract and distilled water, which had ΔE of 1,49 and 1,13, respectively. Conclusion: Soaking in effervescent tablets of edamame seed extract at a concentration of 50% for 16 days had a significant effect on increasing the color changes of thermoplastic nylon denture bases.
