Fortifikasi Daun Ketela Pohon (Manihot esculenta C.) menggunakan Vitamin C terhadap Pertumbuhan dan Perkembangan Ulat Sutra Eri (Samia cynthia ricini D.) (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae) serta Pemanfaatannya sebagai Book Chapter
Abstract
The eri silkworm (Samia cynthia ricini D.) is a widely cultivated and
commercialized non-mulberry silkworm. Cassava leaves are among the most
preferred secondary feeds of eri silkworms and have good nutritional content.
Nutrients in feed can be added through fortification to enhance the growth and
development of eri silkworms. Fortification of the feed leaves can use vitamin C.
Currently there is no research on cassava leaf fortification using vitamin C. The
aim is to determine the effect of vitamin C on the growth and development of eri
silkworms, and determine the most effective concentration. The research was
conducted at the eri silkworm cultivation site, Pasuruan. The research design
used a group randomized design with 4 treatments (control, vitamin C 0.25%,
vitamin C 0.5%, and vitamin C 0.75%) with 3 repetitions in each treatment. The
total sample required was 120 larvae. Data analysis used Univariate ANOVA test
and LSD test. The results obtained showed that at a concentration of 0.5% there
was an increase in cocoon weight, cocoon shell weight, shell ratio, wingspan,
fecundity, and hatchability. The development time parameter of eri silkworm
could be accelerated by giving vitamin C concentration of 0.75%. During the
study, there was also no larval mortality in each treatment. Based on the results,
it could be seen that vitamin C fortification had an influence on the growth and
development of eri silkworms. The results of this study presented in the form of
book chapters, then validated by validators. Based on the results of validation
from three validators obtained an average of 88.3 with a very feasible category.
