Domestikasi Budaya Hallyu (Gelombang Korea) di Tiongkok Melalui Lokalisasi Budaya oleh Aktor Lokal
Abstract
This study investigates the domestication of Hallyu (Korean Wave) in China. Utilizing a qualitative, library research methodology, it challenges the predominant view that Hallyu's spread in China is mainly driven by transnational actors such as the South Korean government and entertainment companies. By adopting Amitav Acharya's (2004, 2011, 2018) theories of localization, the research demonstrates that the adaptation and diffusion of Hallyu in China is complex and multifaceted, characterized by both acceptance and resistance. Despite regulatory constraints by the government, Chinese local producers continue to import and adapt Hallyu cultural products, embedding them within the local culture. The findings reveal that the seemingly contradictory responses from Chinese actors actually complement each other, forming a new configuration of localized Hallyu culture in China.
