    Abstract
The development and competition of the batik industry are increasing rapidly, accompanied by UNESCO, which has designated batik as the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Every company is required to produce quality products in order to compete in the market. Rezti's Batik is one of the batik production houses in Ambulu District, Jember Regency. In the production process, Rezti's Batik still experiences problems with product defects. The purpose of this study is to analyze quality control and find solutions to minimize the level of defects in written batik products using the SPC and FMEA methods. From the results of the control chart, there are 3 points that are above the UCL, namely in months 7, 15, and 22. Analysis with pareto diagram shows that the most dominant defect is the discoloration of fabric at 48.9%, followed by two other types of defects, namely untidy wax painting at 31.9% and residual candle on the fabric at 19.1%. Based on the analysis with the fishbone diagram, there are several factors that cause defects, namely, the human factor is less careful, the size of the equipment is not appropriate, the method is not according to the standard, dirty work area, and the quality of raw materials decreases. Analysis using the FMEA method was carried out to determine the priority scale of problem solving and obtained the top three problems with the highest RPN, namely with human, method and equipment causal factors. Based on the RPN table, the proposed improvements are more focused labor, ensuring the size of the equipment before use, ensures the suitability of the motif design, pay attention to the cleanliness of the work area, and pays attention to the storage of raw materials.
