Estimasi Usia Berdasarkan Metode Kvaal pada Gigi Insisif Sentral Maksila Menggunakan Radiografi Panoramik
Abstract
Age estimation based on the Kvaal method is one of the supports for identifying
victims in forensic odontology. Research on maxillary central incisors using
panoramic radiography with the Kvaal method has been carried out previously and
the results show a significant correlation. Maxillary central incisors were chosen
because they have wide pulp so they can be easily observed and tend to still be
present until old age. The aim of this study was to determine age estimation based
on the Kvaal method for maxillary central incisors using panoramic radiography.
This research involved 90 panoramic radiograph samples from subjects in the age
category 20-70 years at the radiology installation of RSGM, Jember University. then
measurements were taken of the maxillary central incisors using the cliniview
10.2.6 software application. the results show the ratio of pulp width to tooth and
root length, then substituted into the Kvaal method formula to obtain biological
age. Next, we can see the difference in biological age and chronological age in the
maxillary central incisors. The results obtained for maxillary central incisors were
in the age category 20-70 years with an average biological age of 27.57 years and
an average chronological age of 31.12 years, with a difference of 3.55 years. The
conclusion of this research is that the Kvaal method on the maxillary central
incisors using panoramic radiography can be used to estimate age with a difference
of only 3.55 years.
