    Abstract
Foot care behavior is important in the management of diabetes mellitus to prevent complications. Farmers with diabetes mellitus are often faced with limited health literacy, which will have an impact on foot care behavior. This study analyzed the relationship between health literacy and foot care behavior in farmers suffering from type 2 DM. The research design used was correlational with a cross sectional approach. A total of 107 respondents obtained in this study by purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected using the Health Literacy Survey Europe 16 Questionnaire (HLS-EU-16Q) and the Nothingham Assessment of Functional Footcare (NAFF) Questionnaire and analyzed using Kendall's tau C with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that most respondents had health literacy in the problematic category (40.2%) and foot care behavior in the poor category (69.2%). Bivariate analysis shows that there is a strong positive correlation between health literacy and foot care behavior (p-value = 0.000; r=0.759), meaning that the higher the health literacy, the higher the foot care behavior, and vice versa. Providing interventions to increase health literacy is very important to improve the foot care behavior of type 2 DM farmers. Future researchers can identify other influencing factors and provide interventions to increase health literacy and foot care behavior.
