Pengukuran Tingkat Keseimbangan pada Lansia Petani di Kelurahan Bintoro Kecamatan Patrang Kabupaten Jember
Abstract
Balance is necessary for a person to maintain body posture, respond to movement and react to external disturbances. Factors that can affect balance in the elderly are age, musculoskeletal, balance, fear of falling, history of illness and use of medication. Some activities that can maintain balance in the elderly include elderly exercise, maintaining physical activity, and hydrotherapy. The aim of this research is to identify the characteristics and level of balance in elderly farmers in Bintoro Village, Patrang District, Jember Regency. This research is a quantitative descriptive study with a cross sectional design that uses accidental sampling. This study used the Berg Balance Scale (BBS) questionnaire to measure the level of balance in respondents. The results of this study were that the average age of respondents was 64.87 years, 67.8% were female, 24.3% had a history of illness, 16.3% had experienced falls, and 7.6% were taking medication. All respondents (100%) in this study had a good level of balance. This study can conclude that elderly farmer have good balance level. That result caused by elderly farmer do many activity which have body motion like motion to enhance balance level.
