Metafora Pandemi pada Surat Kabar Elektronik (Kajian Semantik)
Abstract
This study examines the semantic categorization and conceptual mapping of
pandemic metaphors in electronic newspapers. The purpose of this study is to
describe the categorization of meaning and the conceptual mapping of pandemic
metaphors in electronic newspapers based on the schema-images formed. The
research design used is descriptive qualitative with the type of research that is
synchronous language research. The data in this study are in the form of words,
phrases, clauses or sentences in electronic newspapers which contain statements
about pandemics that contain metaphors. Based on the results and discussion,
various meanings have been found in the conceptualization of the pandemic
metaphor in news texts, namely the pandemic as an enemy,teacher, disease,
objects (subcategories: door, stairs, and pole), tools, river, area, fertilizer,
mountain, sea, cloud, games, natural forces, physical strength, natural disaster,
fire, folk, rock, beast, invaders, products of law, bomb, cloth, hallway, cliff,
weather, fog, work environment, rain, chains, artist, committee, and boat. The
conceptual mapping of the several semantic categories is explained into seven
image-schemas, that is spatial schema, power schema, container schema, state
schema, unitary schema, identity schema, and source-path-destination schema.
