    Abstract
Carbon fiber is one of the widely developed materials with a wide range of applications. The combination of carbon fiber with other chemicals has led to its rapid development. One of the applications is the coating of carbon fiber with Zinc Oxide, which can be used as a piezoelectric material. Piezoelectric materials are capable of generating electricity when subjected to mechanical pressure or strain, and vice versa. Electrochemical is one of the methods used for carbon fiber coating. Electrochemistry is a technology that involves converting electrical energy into chemical energy, commonly known as electrodeposition, to coat a substrate. This research utilized two independent variables: current of 1.2 A and 1.4 A in the electrochemical process, and electrolyte pH of 2.0, 4.0, and 6.0. The performance testing of the sensor showed that specimens made using a current of 1.4 A produced an average voltage of 0.1122 volts, while specimens made using a current of 1.2 A produced an average voltage of 0.1023 V. Regarding pH variations, specimens using an electrolyte with pH 2 produced the highest average voltage of 0.831V, while the lowest average voltage was generated by specimens coated using an electrolyte with pH 6, which was 0.1122 V. Micro and SEM testing indicated that specimens created using a current variation of 1.4 amperes resulted in a thicker and more uniform coating compared to specimens created using a current of 1.2 amperes in the coating process. The coating formed using an electrolyte with pH 2 appeared uniform and in sheet form, while specimens using an electrolyte with pH 6 exhibited different characteristics. XRD testing revealed that the coatings formed through this process had an amorphous shape and a hexagonal crystal system. The average crystal diameter formed was 13.631 nm for the 1.4 A pH 2 specimen and 27.162 nm for the 1.2 A pH 6 specimen.
