    Abstract
Normal People is a novel written by Sally Rooney and published in 2018. In this research, Normal people is analyzed by using the theory of representation by Stuart Hall. Normal People by Sally Rooney explores the complex dynamics of class struggle through the relationship between the two main characters, Connell and Marianne. Connell comes from a working-class background, while Marianne belongs to the upper class. Their disparate social statuses and backgrounds create tensions and challenges that impact their relationship throughout the novel. Throughout the novel, Rooney portrays Connell's journey as one of self-discovery, personal growth, and grappling with the constraints imposed by his social and economic circumstances. Connell's struggles highlight the limitations and systemic challenges faced by individuals from working-class backgrounds face in their pursuit of upward mobility and better conditions. Overall, Connell's character in Normal People embodies the struggle to overcome socioeconomic barriers, find his place in a different society, and strive for a better condition despite his obstacles.
