    Abstract
Sand production is a problem that often occurs in old wells. Sand that accumulates in the wellbore will cause the stuck pipe or hydrocarbon production stop due to covered by sand. Meanwhile, sand production that exceeds the tolerance limit will cause problems in surface facilities due to over capacity and will cause damage due to sand that can plug or erode certain parts. Sand can occur due to several factors, such as shear failure, tensile failure, and cohesive failure. Therefore, it is necessary to take prevention measures to avoid the onset of sanding. The prevention can be made by calculating critical pressure by analyzing Critical Bottomhole Flowing Pressure (CBHFP) and Critical Drawdown Pressure (CDP) using the methods of Willson et al., 2002; Tabrizy & Mirzaahmadian, 2012; and Yosif & Al-Sudani, 2022 combined to obtain CBHFP and drawdown pressure values. From these calculations, a curve will be obtained that shows the limits of drawdown pressure and well bottom flow pressure (Pwf) at a certain pressure where sand will start to be produced. The curve will provide a sand-free window, which is the area where at a certain reservoir pressure and Pwf, sand will not be produced. In addition, it is necessary to analyze the effect of water cut on sand production. After the analysis, it is found that increasing water cut is in line with the increasing risk of sand production. Then, to mitigate sand problem, installation of sand control is required, where for Y, the suitable sand control is Stand Alone Screen (SAS)-wire wrapped screen and polymer sand screen for homogeneous grain size, and polymer sand screen for wells with heterogeneous grain size.
