Pengaruh Model Pembelajaran 6E Berbasis STEM Education terhadap Kemampuan Berfikir Kritis dan Scientific Reasoning Siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas pada Topik Bioteknologi
Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of the STEM education-based 6E
learning model on the critical thinking and scientific reasoning abilities of high
school students. The ability to think critically and scientific reasoning is one of the
demands expected of every student in the 21st century through the 2013 curriculum
and the independent curriculum. Students' critical thinking skills are very important
to develop as a basis for the development of other abilities such as scientific
reasoning skills. Through the demands of the 2013 curriculum and the independent
STEM curriculum with the 6E learning model, it is one of the approaches that is
considered capable of increasing students' critical thinking skills and scientific
reasoning. Studies on the effect of the STEM education-based 6E learning model on
the critical thinking and scientific reasoning abilities of high school students on the
topic of biotechnology are still few. The type of research used was quasiexperimental with data collection techniques namely observation, interviews, tests
and documentation. The research results were analyzed using the SPPSS Statistics
26.0 program. The results of the Independent Sample Test on critical thinking skills
show that the Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000, which means less than 0.05, this means that
there is a significant difference between the control class and the experimental
class. Meanwhile for scientific reasoning Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000, which means less
than 0.05, this means that there is a significant difference between the control class
and the experimental class. This study shows that there is an influence of the 6E
learning model based on STEM education on the critical thinking and scientific
reasoning abilities of class XII students of SMAN 3 Jember on the topic of
biotechnology. It is hoped that this research can be taken into consideration for
conducting further research to improve the abilities of other 21st century students.
Then it is hoped that researchers will be able to increase knowledge of the learning
models and approaches used.
