    Abstract
    The questioning strategy is one of the strategies that can be used by the teacher in teaching reading comprehension. A proper implementation of questioning strategies was significant in order to effectively assist students in comprehending the reading materials. However, there are limited studies conducted on the teacher’s questioning strategies in teaching reading comprehension. This research used a qualitative case study research design that was intended to investigate the way of the English teacher in implementing the questioning strategies in teaching reading comprehension. An experienced 10th grade of Senior High School English teacher was chosen as the participant in this research. The data of this research were collected from classroom observations and interview, which then analyzed by using Creswell (2012)’s model. The finding of the research revealed that the teacher applied six steps of questioning strategies based on Fusco (2012) in teaching reading comprehension. The patterns of the teacher in applying questioning strategies were varies. Generally, the teacher had properly applied the six steps of questioning strategies. However, in several situations, the teacher failed to properly use the questioning strategies which resulted in ineffective and unfavorable situations during the teaching and learning reading.
