Normalisasi Hubungan Diplomatik Turki-Israel di Tengah Meningkatnya Operasi Militer Israel Ke Palestina Tahun 2020-2022
Abstract
This article aims to analyse the reasons for Turkey and Israel's normalisation of diplomatic relations in 2022, which took place in the midst of Israel's military operations in Palestine. It is acknowledged that Turkey is a key ally of Palestine, particularly the Hamas faction in Gaza. However, the normalization with Israel in 2022 is seen as contradictory to the AKP’s foreign policy which wants to make Turkey the representative and leader of Islamic world. By using a qualitative descriptive approach and a neoclassical realist perspective, this paper tries to see how this can happen. Our paper finds that neoclassical realist thinking influences Turkish foreign policy, where the interaction between systemic and domestic factors determines the AKP’s policy preferences in Turkish foreign affairs.
