F larvae as a bioconversion agent of organic waste can degrade waste quickly, producing frass as fertilizer and BSF larvae as animal feed. The purpose of this study was to analyze the productivity of BSF larvae and the characteristics of frass from different growth media. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 3 treatments and 4 replicates, namely: P1 = chicken manure, P2 = Azolla microphylla, and P3 = tofu waste. Maintenance in different media was carried out for 20 days. The observed variables were harvest weight, individual weight, crude protein content of BSF larvae, percentage of frass residue produced, physical (temperature and pH) and chemical (NPK, C-organic, and C/N ratio) properties of frass. This research was conducted in Karang Sengon Village, Klabang Subdistrict, Bondowoso Regency from February-May 2023. The chemical quality test of kasgot was conducted at the Soil Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jember and the crude protein test of BSF larvae at the Center for Development of Advanced Science and Technology (CDAST). The results showed that P3 produced the best productivity, namely total weight of BSF larvae 406,00 ± 28,40 gram, individual weight 0,030 ± 0,0022 gram, and PK 46,50 ± 4,12%. The frass mass residue results showed that P3 had a low residue percentage of 12,92 ± 0,49%. The pH value of P2 (7,5) was higher than P1 and P3 (7), but did not affect the temperature of the frass. P2 produced higher nitrogen content (2,25 ± 0,16%) than P1 and P3. The phosphorus content of P1 was higher (0,65 ± 0,09%) than other media. The potassium content of P2 was higher (0,52 ± 0,04%) than P1 and P3. The C-organic content of P2 and P3 was 33,81 ± 3,64% and 35,19 ± 2,45%. Tofu waste also produced a higher C/N ratio of about 27,71 ± 5,50. The nutrient elements of chicken manure frass and Azolla microphylla are in accordance with SNI 7763:2018. In conclusion, the growing medium affects the physiochemical characteristics, productivity and frass of BSF larvae.en_US
