| dc.description.abstract | The development of organic livestock currently still has obstacles, one of
which in terms of feed is the limited organic feed and the low quality of organic
feed. one indicator that can be used to support the development of organic
livestock is to make organic rations that are integrated with organic farming. The
purpose of this study was to determine the difference in the quality of organic
(85%) and non-organic rations and the effect of fermentation on the quality of
ration nutrients, digestibility, and rumen environmental conditions to help
farmers who want to start a farming business with an organic cultivation system.
The treatments in the study consisted of P1 (Organic 85%); P2 (Non-organic); P3
(Fermented Organic); P4 (Fermented Non-organic). The feed ingredients used
were rice straw, rice bran, pollard, corn, fish meal, azolla, molasses, salt, and
calcium source (CaCO3). Non-organic feed ingredients were taken from Lampeji
Village, Mumbulsari District, Jember Regency. The organic feed ingredients used
consisted of rice straw and bran (Lombok Kulon Organic Farm), azolla (self cultivation using manure). Fermentation was carried out for 21 days using starbio
probiotic starter. Proximate analysis and in vitro tests of feed quality were
conducted at the Laboratory of the Livestock Research Center, Bogor, West Java.
Parameters analyzed in this study included moisture content, ash, crude protein
(PK), crude fat (LK), crude fiber (SK), extract material without nitrogen (BETN),
total digestible nutrient (TDN), digestibility of dry matter (KcBK), digestibility of
organic matter (KcBO), volatile fatty acid (VFA), ammonia (NH3) and rumen pH.
The results obtained were analyzed using quantitative descriptive method. Based
on data analysis, it is known that P2 (non-organic ration) has the best nutrient
quality consisting of moisture content (55.22%), PK (13.48%), LK (4.40%), SK
(10.77%), BETN (55.42%), and TDN (67.93%). Based on the digestibility value
and rumen environmental conditions, it is known that the best ration is found in
P4 (fermented non-organic ration) which consists of KcBK (67.99%), KcBO
(64.48%), Total VFA (73.54 mmol), and NH3 (15.13 mM), although the pH value
of this treatment is slightly above the normal limit of 7.43. Based on the research
results, it can be concluded that fermentation treatment is proven to increase
ration digestibility by producing ideal rumen conditions. | en_US |
