Etnomatematika pada Masjid Haji Muhammad Cheng Hoo Banyuwangi sebagai Modul Ajar Matematika Fase D
Abstract
Despite the importance of mathematics, most students still consider that
mathematics is difficult. The lack of meaningfull learning is one of the reasons
why mathematics is difficult for students to understand. Teachers should link these
mathematics concepts with daily existance, one of which is culture. Mathematics
in culture is also known as ethnomathematics. The purpose of this qualitative
research with an ethnographic approach is to explore the ethnomathematics of
Haji Muhammad Cheng Hoo Banyuwangi Mosque and to apply it as a
mathematics teaching module for SMP/MTs students (Phase D) based on
Kurikulum Merdeka. The mosque’s caretaker and contractor are the subjects of
this research. Through observations of mosque building, interviews with research
subjects, object documentation, and literature studies, it can be concluded that
there are several geometric concepts such as flat shapes, spatial shapes,
congruence and similarity, as well as geometric transformations in some parts of
the building, including the dome, pillars, ceiling, mihrab, ornaments, and gate of
Haji Muhammad Cheng Hoo Banyuwangi Mosque. Then, the result are used as
topic problems in “Geometry Transformation on Coordinate Plane” teaching
module for class IX SMP/MTs (Phase D) as the implementation of contextual
learning in schools.
