Penerapan Model Discovery Learning untuk Meningkatkan Higher Order Thinking Skills pada Muatan IPA Tentang Sifat-Sifat Benda Padat, Cair, dan Gas Siswa Kelas V di SDN Wonoasih 1 Probolinggo
Abstract
The problem in the 5th grade of SDN Wonoasih 1 Probolinggo is the low of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) of students in science subject because the teacher has never implemented a learning model that can train students' HOTS. The students' HOTS during the pre-classical stage reached 43,64 with the number of students who reached the KKM score (≥70) was only 1. The purpose of this study improves HOTS in science subject about the properties of solid, liquid, and gas in the students 5th grade of SDN Wonoasih 1 Probolinggo and has implemented of Discovery Learning model. This research is conducted in SDN Wonoasih 1 Probolinggo with the subject of the 5th grade. The implementation time is the even semester of the 2022/2023 school year. The type of research is Classroom Action Research which is carried out in two cycles with the four time meetings. Moreover, the data collection methods in this case are observation, interviews, documentation, and tests. The data analysis technique in this case is descriptive quantitative and descriptive qualitative. The results showed that students' HOTS in the first cycle classically reached 61,88 and encompassed the good category with the number of students who achieved a score ≥75 was 8, while the HOTS of students in the second cycle reached 84,24 and encompassed the excellent category with the number of students who achieved a score ≥75 was 26. The finding of results, it can be concluded that the application of the Discovery Learning model can increase Higher Order Thinking Skills science subject on the properties of solid, liquid and gas for the 5th grade students in SDN Wonoasih 1 Probolinggo as expected.
