Diplomasi Publik Indonesia melalui Beasiswa Seni Budaya Indonesia di Era Covid-19 (2020-2021)
Abstract
Public diplomacy is currently the diplomacy that is most frequently carried out by many countries in
the world. Indonesia is one of the countries that uses Public Diplomacy to achieve its interests. One of
the public diplomacies carried out by Indonesia is through the arts and culture sector. Indonesia
through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs uses BSBI as an instrument of public diplomacy that utilizes
artistic and cultural wealth. Through the BSBI program, which is a non-degree program, Indonesia has
successfully implemented it since 2003 until now. However, in 2020 and 2021, a pandemic hit the world,
so that several programs that were designed were hampered and could not be carried out face-to-face.
In 2021, the BSBI program will be implemented virtually again so that there is a scope for public
diplomacy which results in people-to-people connecting happening again. The data was obtained by
conducting a literature study and primer data by informant interview. Using a qualitative method, this
study seeks to provide an explanation of the role BSBI as part of public diplomacy instrument in
pandemic covid-19 era (2020-2021).
