Hubungan Spiritualitas dengan Efikasi Diri pada Pasien Diabetes Melitus Tipe II di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Kaliwates Kabupaten Jember
Abstract
Diabetes Mellitus (DM) can result in negative psychological responses such as
stress, anxiety, and depression which can affect the patient's motivation to
perform self-care. Low motivation will have an impact on the patient's self-efficacy. Spirituality can help manage the negative feelings that arise. This study aimed to analyze the correlation between spirituality and self-efficacy in type 2 DM patients. This study used a correlational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 84 respondents were obtained in the study by using the cluster random sampling technique. Data were collected using the Spiritual Well-Being Scale (SWBS) and Diabetes Management Self-Efficacy Scale (DMSES) questionnaires and analyzed by Pearson with a significant level of 0.05. The results showed that the median score for spirituality was 90 (min max=73-114), and the mean of efficacy was 61.32 (SD=9.734). There is a significant positive correlation between spirituality and self-efficacy in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients (p=0.021 and r=0.251). The higher the spirituality, the better the self-efficacy. Nurses should provide holistic nursing care, including spiritual aspects, to increase the self-efficacy of type 2 DM patients.
