Fish processing liquid waste is waste that contains organic material from fish
processing activities that have the potential to pollute the environment if the
resulting waste is not treated properly and correctly. This research was
conducted to determine the efficiency of removal of BOD levels by Phytotreatment using water jasmine (Echinodorus palaefolius), and the effect of the
number of plants on BOD levels of fish processing wastewater. Sampling was
carried out in the fish processing industry in Pasuruan, East Java. The research
stages started from preliminary research, the phyto-treatment process, and
data analysis using Two-Way ANOVA. Plant acclimatization with
concentrations of 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% fish processing
wastewater with water jasmine (Echinodorus palaefolius) gradually for 18
days. Phytotreatment was carried out using a waste concentration of 75% for
20 days to determine the decrease in BOD levels. Based on the results of the
analysis, it can be concluded that water jasmine (Echinodorus palaefolius) can
absorb organic matter in wastewater treatment with BOD removal efficiency of
77% respectively. The results of statistical tests carried out showed that the
weight of water jasmine (Echinodorus palaefolius) had a significant effect on
BOD levels.
