Abstract

Blitar Regency is one of the largest chili production centers in East Java; however, its productivity has declined over the past three years. This decrease is suspected to be associated with reduced soil quality and increased pest and disease disturbances. This study focused on nematode diversity as a bioindicator of soil quality to assess the condition of chili cultivation fields in Wonodadi District, Blitar Regency, and to utilize the findings in the development of a poster as an educational medium. The research was conducted from October 20nd, 2025 to January 26nd , 2026 using a quantitative descriptive method, which included soil sampling, nematode extraction, nematode identification, and analysis of nematode diversity. The results were subsequently compiled into a poster. The findings revealed that the nematode diversity index (H’) in the sampled chili fields was categorized as low (H’ = 0,3617), with a dominance of omnivorous nematodes. The Maturity Index (MI = 4,023) and Plant Parasitic Index (PPI = 3,00) were relatively high. These results indicate poor soil quality, which is consistent with measurements of abiotic soil conditions showing nutrient imbalance. The development of the poster based on the research findings obtained a validation score of 89,89%, which was categorized as highly feasible for use as an informational and learning media.
