Abstract
Edamame is one of the soybean varieties widely developed in Jember and
has become an important agricultural commodity with considerable economic
potential. Various Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) process
edamame into value-added products to meet consumer demand and increase
business profitability. One of these MSMEs is Said’s Roti, which produces several
edamame-based products, namely edamame pie, edamame strudel, and edamame
bollen. To ensure efficient utilization of available resources and achieve optimal
production planning, Said’s Roti faces the challenge of balancing multiple
production objectives simultaneously.
This study aims to determine the optimal production quantities of the three
products by considering several goals, including minimizing the use of raw
materials, minimizing equipment utilization, minimizing production costs,
maximizing profits, maximizing production quantity, and minimizing production
time. A mathematical model was formulated to represent these production
conditions and constraints. The optimization process was initially carried out using
the goal programming method because it is capable of handling multiple objectives
simultaneously. However, since the resulting solution values were still in float
(decimal) form, the branch and bound method was subsequently applied to obtain
integer solutions that are more realistic and applicable in actual production
planning.
The optimization process was assisted by the Python programming
language using the Visual Studio Code Integrated Development Environment
(IDE), without limitation of iterations. Data were collected through interviews,
observations, and documentation. The results showed that the optimal production
plan consists of 248 boxes of edamame pie, 157 boxes of edamame strudel, and 44
boxes of edamame bollen. Furthermore, 14 out of 19 established objectives were
successfully achieved, indicating that the proposed model effectively supports
production planning decisions at Said’s Roti.
