Abstract

This study aims to describe the form, function, and cultural values contained in the Goa Sodong myth in Pelinggihan Hamlet, Grogol Village, Giri District, Banyuwangi Regency, and its use as an alternative learning material for drama for grade XI high school. The background of this study is based on the importance of preserving the collective identity of the community, concerns about the degradation of myth inheritance due to modernization, and the low interest of the younger generation in local wisdom. This study uses a qualitative-ethnographic approach with data collection techniques in the form of observation, ethnographic interviews, documentation, and data analysis using the Spradley model. The results of the study indicate that the Goa Sodong myth is believed to be the place of Sayyid Ali's asceticism and the location of the struggle of the Blambangan figure, has mystical, cosmological, and sociological functions, and contains cultural values that reflect the relationship between humans and God, nature, others, and themselves. In addition to being a cultural and spiritual site, the myth of Goa Sodong also has the potential to be developed into local wisdom-based learning materials that are relevant to the Merdeka Curriculum Phase E.
