Abstract

Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is a disease that infects the upper and lower respiratory tracts with a high prevalence in Indonesia, especially in East Java Province and Jember Regency, causing 2 million deaths each year, particularly among infants, children, and the elderly. In Indonesia, the prevalence of ARI reaches 1.017.290 individuals, accounting for 4.4% of the total population, while in East Java Province and Jember Regency, it reaches 98,566 and 6,092 individuals respectively. ARI can be caused by viruses or bacteria and has a range of symptoms from mild to severe, making the wise use of antibiotics crucial for treating bacterially induced ARI. This study aims to analyze antibiotic use in outpatient adult ARI patients at Sumbersari Health Center using the Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical / Defined Daily Dose (ATC/DDD) method to enhance the rational use of medications and reduce antibiotic resistance.
